The coronavirus vaccines that have arrived in the country will be given to the medical staff first.
The Syrian Minister of Health Dr “Hassan Muhammad Al-Ghobash” officially announced the arrival of the new coronavirus vaccine in Syria, saying that the vaccination process will begin for the medical staff who are on the front lines of treating patients.
Al-Ghobash specified the date to start giving the vaccine to the medical staff as of the next week, and in the various Syrian governorate noting that the ministry received a quantity of the vaccine from a friendly country, and with direct guidance from the president “Bashar al-Assad” vaccination of the health staff will start.
The minister explained during a health conference held on Thursday that the studies conducted by the ministry showed that 6.7% of the injuries are non-accidental cases, and the rate of infection among the health workers is about 3.6%, which shows the prevalence of injuries among workers involved in providing health services, especially workers, who are taking care of the patients.
Al-Ghobash added that the aim of starting the introduction of the vaccine to health workers is to protect them from infection, their patients, their children and their families, so that they continue to provide the necessary health care in the best possible way within the available circumstances.
Noting that the vaccination will begin to be given to the most vulnerable group, who are workers in isolation centers, with priority for the older age and the nature of work.
Al-Ghobash indicated that the vaccines are safe and are given in two doses at an interval of 21 days between the first and the second without any side effects mentioned, as he also indicated that in the next stage, citizens who are over 55 years of age will be vaccinated voluntarily, taking into account those with chronic diseases.
Sources of the Syrian Documentation Center reported that the vaccines that arrived in the country came from China, and the distribution process began to various health directorates in the Syrian governorates, in preparation for giving them to the medical staff first.
It’s noteworthy that the number of cases of the coronavirus in Syria reached 15343, 9468 of this cases were cured, while 1008 other cases died.
