Damascus submits new proposals to re-conduct the 6th round of the meetings.

The Syrian state’s orientations have become clear about pushing the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee forward, and trying to break the stagnation that affected the political process.

As sources of the Syrian Documentation Center reported that Damascus had recently submitted proposals to the UN envoy “Geir Pedersen” regarding the work of the 6th round, which would re-conduct the committee’s meetings, whose date hasn’t yet been announced.

The proposals included points and actions that would resume the committee’s discussions, which Pedersen describes as a missed opportunity and a disappointment, which came as a result of obstacles, disagreements, and the opposition delegation’s failure to accept the proposals and agendas of the Syrian government’s delegation.

The sources pointed out that in the same rejectionist manner, it seems that the proposals submitted by Damascus haven’t been accepted by the opposition, as information talks about Pedersen’s recent visit to the head of the opposition delegation, Anas Al-Abdeh in Istanbul, presenting those proposals, but he rejected them, and this matter slowed down the determination of the date of the next session.

This confirms the obstacles that are placed by the opposition delegation, whether directly by it, or because of the pressures it faces from the countries that support it, which intervene covertly in its decisions in contradiction with the basic condition of the work of the Constitutional Committee and the development of the new Syrian constitution, which is the Syrian-Syrian dialogue.

The apparent intransigence of the opposition delegation and the absence of the compromise to agree on the progress of the political process corresponds to the Russian efforts that are clear in their turn to support the Syrian approach based on reaching a solution that would end the war in the country, starting with the drafting of a new Syrian constitution, as these Russian efforts were exemplified by the meeting that took place between it, Turkey, and Qatar in “Doha”.

This meeting received special attention from politicians who describe it as a new step with many connotations, the main goal of which is to try to revive the Constitutional Committee again, as this tripartite meeting included discussions at the level of foreign ministers on how to make the work of the Constitutional Committee succeed and the drafting of the new constitution for the country.

The importance of this meeting stems from the inclusion of Qatar in the framework of the consultations on the Syrian file, especially as it’s one of the first countries that caused the Syrian war, and it’s also one of the countries that covertly affects the decision process of some members of the opposition delegation within the committee.

These political moves are nothing but new proof of the intention of the Syrian state to solve the country’s crisis in a political manner, which it have emphasized repeatedly, especially since this process, including the issuance of the new constitution, will restore stability to the country in various economic, political, service and military aspects.

The Syrian citizen is currently watching the political movements of his country in light of severe economic crises afflicting him, the causes of which vary between the thefts that the Syrian wealth is exposed to by America, Turkey and the armed parties affiliated with it, and the unlawful unilateral sanctions imposed on the country.

Analysts’ expectations indicate that major political changes will occur in Syria in the upcoming months, especially that the country is on a date with the upcoming presidential elections, which coincide with clear efforts by the Syrian state to break the deadlock in the work of the Constitutional Committee and reach an agreement between it and the opposition on the new constitution, the most important clauses related to the national and sovereign principles, the system of government and the unity of the Syrian geography.
