The USA has played a major role in the war on Syria since the beginning of the crisis in /2011/ through various methods that culminated in direct military intervention in /2014/.

While the US pretext at that time to justify its military intervention in Syria was to fight ISIS and terrorist organizations, it soon formed in October 2015 an armed organization of 30 thousand armed men, supporting them openly and directly under the name of “The Syrian Democratic Forces” and chose to have /25/ thousand armed men among them to be Kurdish.

In addition to the formation of the military force, the “United States” supported the “Kurdish Democratic Union” party to establish a political entity in the regions of the Syrian Jazeera, to be used as a de facto authority over civilians after the “SDF”, with US support, seized large areas of the Syrian Jazeera, calling the new entity the “Autonomous Administration.”

Although US officials deny occasionally their country’s seeking to establish a Kurdish state in northern Syria, facts indicate that since the American support began, the efforts of “Washington” are heading in this direction, especially that the Syrian Jazeera region includes oil and gas fields, in addition, the Euphrates river passes through it and contains dams to generate electricity, which means several factors reinforcing the establishment of a separatist state in the region where “the United States” chose to deploy its forces, exclusively supporting the Kurds financially and militarily, taking advantage of old Kurdish ambitions to establish a “Kurdish state” in the region, as part of a US attempt to repeat the “Iraqi Kurdistan” scenario inside Syria.

While all parties, including the “United Nations” and the regional states active in the Syrian file, affirm the need to respect the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria, the American policy works to the contrary, and seeks to strengthen the factors of establishing a separatist entity for the Kurds in the northeast of the country, in a clear violation of international laws, as Washington supports an artificial authority in a country whose central state still exists and has not disintegrated, like Iraq and Libya during the US intervention. It aims not only to divide Syria geographically, but also to formally dismantle it for multiple powers that weaken the role of the central state and prevent the progress of the country’s constitutional entitlements, foremost among which are the presidential elections scheduled to take place in the middle of this year.

Like previous administrations, the new US administration led by “Joe Biden” upon its arrival to power in Washington, declared a clear position against Syria and the progress of the constitutional process in it. The US deputy representative to the “United Nations”, Jeffrey Delorents, said that the “Biden administration” will not recognize the results of the upcoming presidential elections in Syria, adding that the Syrian authorities intend to exploit the elections, which observers considered a US attempt not only to disrupt the elections, but to assume pre-accusations and peremptory rulings, based on what Dilournet called” intentions”, and this exposes the US position against the constitutional process in Syria.

The Biden administration did not deviate from the pattern of previous American administrations, especially regarding the issue of obstructing the elections in Syria, as John Kerry, the US Secretary of State in the Obama administration in 2014, described the Syrian presidential elections at that time as having no credibility, and accused it of being fraud, without explaining the concrete evidence for such accusation, being part of an American “propaganda” that randomly launches accusations for political ends.
An SDC well-informed diplomatic source said that the American efforts to obstruct the elections in Syria, through multiply successive administrations, are du

e to an American attempt to prove that the Syrian state has disintegrated and collapsed, while Damascus continues to adhere to its constitutional obligations within its deadlines, and maintains the conduct of the elections in accordance with the provisions of the constitution, to prove that the Syrian state did not stand up militarily only, but also politically and morally and remained in place with well-established institutions, which failed the American effort to undermine it, indicating that every constitutional entitlement that takes place on time is considered superiority in favor of the Syrian state at the expense of the American project.

According to the source, the US support for the Kurds in order to divide the country and strike at the unified state structure reveals the the contradiction in Washington’s positions and claims, adding that at a time when US officials claim that their country is seeking to spread the values of democracy in the world, especially in the Middle East, their actual practices towards Syria reveal the falsehood of these allegations, and how the American administrations refuse to apply the provisions of the constitution and law and resort to the ballot box in multiparty elections.

The source confirmed that the US forces and the “SDF” militants loyal to it will prevent holding presidential elections in their areas of control on the Syrian Jazeera, and will make their efforts to question the electoral process, pointing out that the Syrian state succeeded in holding the presidential elections in 2014, when the military situation was much worse than it is today, which means that it will succeed in adhering to the entitlement despite all American attempts to obstruct holding the elections.

It is noteworthy that the Speaker of the People’s Assembly, according to the provisions of the Syrian constitution approved in 2012, calls for presidential elections to take place no less than 60 days before the president’s term ends and no more than 90 days. Accordingly, it is expected that the elections will be held between April 16th and May 16th.
