Ankara’s militants bulldoze agricultural lands in the countryside of “Afrin”.
The militants of the Turkish “Al-Sham” legion faction began this morning the work of digging and bulldozing large areas of agricultural land belonging to the village of “Brad” in the countryside of the city of “Afrin” north of Aleppo, in search of antiquities and ancient treasures.
The sources reported the arrival of 4 bulldozers, accompanied by military vehicles belonging to the “Al-Sham” legion faction, to the village of “Brad” this morning.
The sources pointed out that the excavations and sabotage of the village’s lands were carried out with tight security for bulldozers by the militants of the faction who are looking for archaeological finds and buried treasures under the area to steal them, as they had previously carried out several excavations of archaeological sites in the vicinity of the village itself, including exhumations.
“Afrin” is one of the most Syrian regions that includes important archaeological sites dating back to different periods of time, which made the damage to these sites great, with the Turkish forces and their armed factions controlling the area, and their tendency to sabotage the archaeological hills and steal their contents, leading to smuggling and selling them outside the country.
Among the last archaeological sites that were subjected to major bulldozing operations at the hands of the factions under the directives of the Turkish forces, was Tel “Kushur” located in the “Raju” district, which earlier this week witnessed extensive excavations in search of archaeological finds, as part of a Turkish plan based on bulldozing the hill Within several stages, its beginning was in 2019.
