The sources reported that the leader of “Al-Nusra” “Abu Muhammad al-Julani”, directed large amounts of money towards Turkey, to be used in investments and the purchase of real estate.

The sources indicated that since 2018, Al-Nusra leadership began transferring funds from Idlib to Turkey, and worked to buy real estate, including palaces and homes, and opened investments in restaurants and shops, in several Turkish cities, including Istanbul, Gaziantep and Urfa.

The sources estimated the value of the money that was transferred to Turkey at about 200 million dollars, with Al-Julani’s share of not less than 50%, while the rest is distributed among the leaders of the first row of Al-Nusra, especially the leaders close to al-Julani.

The sources indicated that the movement of money is still going on in light of the flow of wealth into the pockets of the leaders of “Al-Nusra”, as a result of their control of the “Bab al-Hawa” border crossing with Turkey in the northern countryside of Idlib, which they invest in, whether in imposing fees on transiting through it, or in receiving aid from the cross-border UN is heading to Idlib, where tons of aid are seized by providing fake names for its beneficiaries to international organizations and stealing it for their own interests.

Documented reports have previously revealed that leaders of the factions opened investments in Turkey after stealing money from the Syrian war, and perhaps the most famous of them is the leader of the “Jaish al-Islam” faction, “Issam al-Baidani” who was found to have huge wealth and large tourism projects in Turkey.
