The SDF said that we are facing unknown groups in the vicinity of Al-Sina’a Prison.
This morning, violent confrontations continued between the “SDF” and “ISIS” in the vicinity of “Al-Sina’a” prison in the “Gweran” neighborhood south of Al-Hasakah, for the 4th consecutive day.
The “SDF” issued a statement this morning, in which it said that it is dealing with unidentified cells that are trying to support the besieged ISIS militants in the northern section of the “Sina’a” prison, starting from the “Gweran” neighborhood, while the “SDF” patrols began, according to the statement, with raids in the area, it tightened its security cordon around the northern wall of the prison, and carried out precise military operations that led to the killing of 13 ISIS militants and the arrest of 2 others.
The “Amaq” agency affiliated with ISIS quoted a source from the organization as saying that the attack on Al-Sina’a prison led to the death of dozens of SDF militants, adding that ISIS militants succeeded in removing more than 800 detainees belonging to the organization from prison, for the past 2 days.
The source said that the operation that began last Thursday with the detonation of 2 bombed trucks at the prison gate and its walls, included a four-pronged attack on the prison, and the control of parts of it, in exchange for burning other parts.
He added that “ISIS” militants inside the prison succeeded in controlling a weapons store, and killed a number of guards in the prison, pointing to the killing of 200 SDF militants, according to his account, while the organization published a video clip of those who said they were SDF militants, as they were arrested during the operation, but the “SDF” said that those who appeared in the clip were workers in the prison kitchen, and that contact with them was lost during the attack.
After the confrontations between the 2 sides caused civilian casualties and a large displacement movement of the people of the area towards the Syrian army, the Syrian Foreign Ministry issued a statement describing what ISIS, SDF and the American forces are doing as massacres that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
