Violent explosion in the midst of Idlib and news of targeting a foreign Jihadist in Nusra Front
An SDC local source said the IED targeted a van near al-Abrar Mosque in al-Muhandiseen neighborhood in Idlib, injuring a child severely in addition to another person. Both were taken to hospital to receive treatment. The highly-explosive IED burned the whole van.
It has been circulated that the explosion targeted a foreign jihadist in Nusra Front whose identity was kept a secret by Nusra Front members who imposed a security cordon over the scene of the explosion. Areas of Idlib under the control of Nusra Front have been living a state of insecurity with frequent explosions, targeting figures of jihadist groups and armed factions as part of internal disputes. Most of these internal disputes are attributed to the division of the civilians’ money and properties they had looted.
Tuesday, unknown militants targeted a vehicle of a member of the legislature in Nusra Front called Ali al-Turky with an IED that exploded in his vehicle, killing him and injuring his attendant and his driver as well as two children who were around when the explosion took place in Kafar Takharim in Idlib northwest countryside.
