The Syrian army foils the second attack of the militants in Idlib since the ceasefire agreement was announced
An SDC source said Syrian army units observed the militants’ attempt to carry out a surprising attack on the army sites in al-Bara. Violent clashes broke out in the area, killing and wounding a number of Sham Legion militants, including Abu Dibo Hama and Abdullah al-Hamwi and destroying a number of the vehicles used in the attack.
The source added the attack did not result in any changes on the controlling map. The Syrian army units maintained control over their sites after foiling the attack. The source added that this attack comes after a few days of the the attempt of Hurras al-Din militants to carry out an attack in al-Ghab northwest Hama after they advanced in al-Tanjra village for few hours. Then the Syrian army carried out a counterattack in which it regained control over all the sites, causing big losses of members and weaponry to the militants.
Recently the militants have been carrying out many attacks in Idlib in continuous violation to the ceasefire agreement. Turkish minister of defense, Hulusi Akar, said the ceasefire agreement in Idlib is still into effect despite some individual violations. Akar added that all issues are being solved in coordination with Turkish and Russian forces.
Akar said in press statements that despite some “slight” violations, the ceasefire agreement is respected. Akar also pointed out that small groups are attempting to violate the ceasefire agreement and Turkey is coordinating with Russia concerning these groups. A number of Takfiri factions, especially Nusra Front and Hurras al-Din had already declared they rejected Moscow agreement that stipulates ceasefire in Idlib and that they would not abide by it as well.
