Second rebellion of ISIS members detained by SDF in a single month in Hasaka, Syria
ISIS members that have been detained by SDF in Sinaa Prison in Ghweran neighborhood in Hasaka renewed their rebellion against SDF control for the second time in a single month.
SDC local sources said ISIS detainees collided with SDF guards amid tensions inside the prison and the surrounding area where US surveillance aircraft flew in support to SDF and in anticipation of any potential escape of ISIS detainees.
The sources said this rebellion is the second of its kind in September. ISIS members had already carried out a similar rebellion on September 9 when they destroyed the walls and took control over the yard of the Sinaa Prison. SDF declared regaining control over the prison later and discovered that a group of ISIS members had been digging a tunnel to flee away.
ISIS detainees demand improvements of their living conditions inside the prison and allowing their families to visit them and bringing them to fair courts. ISIS foreign members do not want to go back to their countries of origin since they will be prosecuted. However, Western countries call for an international court within SDF controlled areas in the Syrian Jazeera area so that they could stay in Syria since “they pose a risk on their communities.”
