The assassination of a former leader of the Deir Al-Zour factions, alongside 2 of his family members.

Yesterday, unknown militants targeted a former leader of the Deir Al-Zour factions named “Ahmad Al-Alwan”, in the city of Al-Basira in the eastern countryside of Deir Al-Zour.

Sources of the Syrian Documentation Center reported that the militants assassinated “Alwan” along with his son “Saleh” and his nephew, while sources close to him accused the “SDF” of being responsible for the assassination.

The sources stated that the “SDF” patrol recently raided the house of “Alwan” and confiscated his personal weapon, and threatened him.

Adding that he had previously been injured during the battles that led to the amputation of his legs, which prevented him from playing any military or field role after that, which raises many questions about the reason for the “SDF” threats to him.

The incident comes days after the assassination of the Sheikh “Talyush Al-Shitat Al-Zahir” and his son, one of the most prominent faces of the “Al-Akidat” tribe, in his home in the town of Hawaij Thiban, east of Deir Al-Zour, which sparked widespread public anger against the “SDF” and fears from the return of the assassination waves to the region, amid the inability of the “SDF” to control security stability in the areas of its control, in addition to its responsibility for a number of assassinations.

As the SDF is accusing the elements of ISIS of carrying out the assassinations to incite the street against them, while they failed to arrest any of the organization members responsible for these assassinations despite the wide spread of their checkpoints in the region, while local sources say that the SDF checkpoints focus their efforts on arresting the youth of the area, and taking them for compulsory recruitment into its ranks, instead of taking real measures to eliminate the ISIS elements.
