SDC sources reported that the schools in Sha’fah and Sha’itat regions of Deir Ezzor countryside announced a complete closure in protest at the SDF’s arbitrary practices against teachers and taking them for the so-called “compulsory recruitment” within its ranks.

The sources indicated that all schools at various educational levels were closed on Wednesday, announcing the suspension until the SDF retracted its previous decision regarding the recruitment of 100 teachers and employees in the educational sector.

The sources stated that the schools’ closure was followed by demonstrations in the two areas against the “SDF”, demanding an end to the teachers’ arrests, stressing the need to neutralize the educational sector with all its staffs and facilities from the ongoing conflict in the country, and the exit of the “SDF” militants from the schools they took over and turned into military headquarters.

It is noteworthy that the great popular anger that prevails within the SDF areas in the countryside of Deir Ezzor and Hasaka reached its most after the latter issued about two weeks ago nominal lists of teachers for “forced recruitment” that most of them did not abide by, which made the “SDF” launch massive raids and arrests in various villages and towns during this week.
